Brush Mountain Band Bios
Brush
Mountain Band is a five-piece bluegrass group drawn from Centre and Mifflin
counties. Their recipe of banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and upright bass
with three-and four-part vocal harmonies is combined to cook up traditional,
but catchy, bluegrass and gospel music. Lead vocals are constantly passed
around the band. Named for a mountain in central Pennsylvania their music
reaches beyond local boundaries, from way down south to New England. They
choose to perform live, in the old fashioned way, around two or three large
diaphragm microphones. Watching the whole band work around the mics can be
like taking a trip back in time. It makes you want to get up and move! The
band has been together since the early fall of 2002.
Brush Mountain Band puts its heart into bluegrass standards such as “Rocky Top”, “Orange Blossom Special” and “Cabin in Caroline” and Gospel greats such as “I Saw the Light” and Rhonda Vincent’s “When Angels Sing”
